Watch: James Anderson ridicules Ravindra Jadeja's trademark sword celebration in Rajkot Test

Right after India’s premier all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja amassed his 4th Test century in the 3rd Test against England in Rajkot, it was normal for him to pull out his famous sword bat celebration in front of his home crowd at the Niranjan Shah stadium. But what was not normal was England veteran James Anderson mocking his celebratory move at the end of his over in which Jadeja reached his 2nd Test ton at the venue.

In the 82nd over’s 5th delivery, Ravindra Jadeja led to the unfortunate run out of debutant Sarfaraz Khan who departed with sheer disappointment following a sensational 62 off 66. With the way Sarafraz was playing, he was looking very likely to convert his half-century into what could have been an amazing century.

Jadeja after hitting the ball from Anderson towards mid-off, called for a single but stopped his run after seeing Mark Wood set for the throw to the non-striker’s. Ultimately, Sarfaraz Khan had to pay the price and departed after a direct hit, and that intrigued a very aggressive reaction from captain Rohit Sharma who threw his cap in frustration.

However, Ravindra Jadeja completed his century moments later and brought out his famous celebration. It was a rather quiet one as he was evidently sad about what transpired between him and Sarfaraz. James Anderson who was bowling that over, took a slight dig towards Jaddu for his celebration and also for what he did to the Indian debutant.

Meanwhile, India had a mixed start on day 2 of the 3rd Test as they lost 3 wickets, 2 in the 1st session and 1 after Lunch. Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed for 112 off 225 through a dismissal from right-arm part-time off-spinner Joe Root who picked up his first wicket of the match.

Another debutant, wicket-keeper batsman Dhruv Jurel who is replacing KS Bharat in the Indian playing XI, batted brilliantly on debut. The proceedings on day 2 have gone relatively slower than day 1 as the run rate has drastically lowered today.

The Indians have crossed the 400-run mark already and their next aim will be to score at least 450 runs to put further pressure on the English contingent whose bowlers have struggled to pick wickets at regular intervals. Yesterday, Mark Wood led from the front, picking up back-to-back wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill for 10 and 0 respectively.

Number 4 batter Rajat Patidar was not able to do anything special either as he was caught by Ben Duckett off Tom Hartley’s tempting delivery. Then Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma got set and steadied India’s unstable ship with a 204-run partnership en route to Rohit’s century.

Jadeja before throwing Sarfaraz to the burner, stood for a 72-run partnership and watched over the latter as he scored his half-century. At the moment, India have been reduced to 9 wickets with Dhruv Jurel departing for 46 off Rehan Ahmed’s good set-up delivery.
