Senior Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is looking highly inevitable to win the man of the match for the 2nd Test between India and England here at Vishakhapatnam’s ACA-VDCA stadium. Bumrah after registering a 6-wicket haul in the 2nd innings, has once again aided the cause of an Indian win in Vizag as he has removed England’s last recognized batsman from the crease – Ben Foakes with an effortful caught and bowled attempt.

Jasprit Bumrah has already registered 8 wickets across innings in the 2nd Test and although he has remained quiet in the 4th innings due to the spin battery’s efficiency, Bumrah has chipped in with the wickets of Johnny Bairstow and Foakes.

The English wicket-keeper batsman was stitching a decent partnership with tailender Tom Hartley who is still on the crease, being joined by James Anderson in the middle after Shoaib Bashir became Indian seamer Mukesh Kumar’s first scalp of the 2nd Test.

Foakes and Hartley’s partnership had reached 55 runs and it was getting very important for any Indian bowler to come in and break the partnership. That’s when skipper Rohit Sharma who has been pretty spot on with his tactics in the 2nd Test, brought vice captain Jasprit Bumrah back to the attack.

And whenever Bumrah gets the ball in his hand, India instantly go wicket bound. During the final ball of the 65th over which was Bumrah’s 17th, the 30-year-old bowled a full length delivery to Ben Foakes who mistimed an attempted straight drive as the ball did not find a sweet connection and struck a few inches below the sticker.

The ball came floating in the air comfortably to the hands of Bumrah whose reckless pace, line and length bamboozled England batters. Yesterday when he completed his 6-wicket haul for 45 runs in a 16-over spell, the Indian vice captain became the quickest bowler from the country to register 150 wickets by innings, overtaking legendary names like Javagal Srinath and Kapil Dev on the way.

Jasprit Bumrah Topples Yashasvi Jaiswal To Become Man Of The Match For Registering 9 Wickets In 2nd Test

The biggest headache that the presenters faced after the match was finished off by Jasprit Bumrah by claiming the wicket of Tom Hartley with a clean bowled, was to decide who should be adjudged as man of the match for the 2nd Test in Vizag.

The tussle was only between India’s opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal who smacked a terrific maiden Test double hundred in only his 2nd Test on home soil. Jaiswal would finish off day 1 with 179 runs, scoring more than half of the team’s runs.

His 179 on day 1 helped him overtake Mohammad Azharuddin in terms of the highest Indian run scorer on a single day of a Test match before becoming the 3rd youngest Indian batter to score a double hundred in Test cricket after the legendary Sunil Gavaskar and Vinod Kambli.

Shubman Gill also produced a notable performance with his 104 off 149 in the 3rd innings when India posted 399 as the target. Jaiswal and Gill’s efforts could have gone in vain if it wasn’t for Jasprit Bumrah’s fiery spell which helped him win the man of the match award.
