The Rajasthan Royals (RR) star right-arm pacer Jofra Archer provided his team with a great start in the 23rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Wednesday, April 9.

Shubman Gill becomes Jofra Archer's bunny

Gill has looked in tremendous form in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League 2025. He has batted very well and played a key role in his team's victories.

Gill's captaincy has also been spot on as under his leadership, the Gujarat Titans have won three matches on the bounce after losing their IPL 2025 opener against the Punjab Kings.

Meanwhile, Gill failed to perform well in the match against the Rajasthan Royals as he fell for 3-ball 2 in the 3rd over of the innings. On the first ball of the over, Archer bowled a 147.7 kmph full delivery around off-stump and Gill was drawn into the forward push. The ball nipped in to beat the inside edge as Gill was late in his shot and his off-stump was knocked back.

Overall, Gill has come against Archer in 15 balls in the Indian Premier League and has been dismissed 3 times, while scoring just 10 runs.

He's just breathing fire - Jofra Archer hailed by ex-cricketers

Speaking on ESPNCricinfo ahead of the GT vs RR clash, the Indian leg-spinner Piyush Chawla lauded Jofra Archer, saying that he has been breathing fire in the last few matches of the IPL. He said:

"Well, it's going to be a very interesting battle because he's somebody, first game he went for plenty and the way he came back, he's just breathing fire at the pitch now. He just comes and he bowls that, you know, quick bowls, hard lengths. So, it's actually a treat to watch somebody bowling like this and coming back from an injury who haven't had like good last four, five months. So, I'm really looking forward to that battle."

During the same discussion, Wasim Jaffer said that Jofra Archer has returned to his best form and troubled the batters. He said:

"Yeah, I mean, their number five, number six haven't been tested. So, you know, if he can break through and get a couple of wickets in that power play and if he continues to bowl like that, there's a good chance and that, you know, Shahrukh Khan, Tewatia, they haven't been tested yet. So, it's going to be an interesting battle and I like the way Jofra Archer is running hard and bowling. You know, earlier he used to bowl that, you know, slower deliveries in the power play.

"You know, somebody who can bowl 145, 150 clicks, you don't want to see that. I think he went back to his strengths and that seems to be working."
