Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fast bowler Mayank Yadav picked up the wicket of Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Hardik Pandya in the ongoing IPL 2025 clash at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 27. The tearaway fast bowler bamboozled the all-rounder and bowled him through the gate in the crucial match.
Mayank Yadav was brought into the playing XI, replacing Shardul Thakur, who had taken only one wicket across his last three matches in IPL 2025. Shardul has picked up 12 wickets in nine games this season. Meanwhile, Mayank took seven wickets in four matches at an impressive economy rate of 6.98 last year.

The incident took place on the first ball of the 16th over in the Mumbai Indians. Mayank bowled a good-length delivery that tailed back in towards the batter, and the ball went through bat and pad. It just shaved the leg bail as Pandya aimed to drive straight but missed the ball completely.
Hardik was dismissed after scoring 5 runs off 7 balls, leaving the team 157/5. It was also Mayank’s second scalp of IPL 2025. Earlie,r he managed to pick up the wicket of Rohit Sharma in the third over of the innings.

Mumbai finished their innings at 215/7 after 20 overs. Ryan Rickelton top-scored with 58 from 32 deliveries, including six fours and four sixes.
Mayank Yadav conceded 40 runs in four overs while picking up two wickets. Digvesh Singh Rathi gave away 48 runs in his four overs, taking one wicket. Avesh Khan also picked up two wickets, conceding 42 runs in his four overs.
The five-time champions came into the game with a four-match winning streak and are determined to extend their form. However, Hardik Pandya’s side is yet to register a home win against LSG, trailing 1-6 in their head-to-head record.
They had also lost to the Super Giants by 12 runs earlier this season. Meanwhile, LSG are desperate to bounce back after a defeat against Delhi Capitals in their last outing.
Mayank Yadav Missed the First Half of IPL 2025 Due to Injury
Mayank Yadav stunned everyone with his express pace during IPL 2024. The right-arm fast bowler suffered an early setback this season. The Lucknow Super Giants speedster missed the first half of IPL 2025 due to a lumbar stress injury. LSG had to play nine games without one of their brightest prospects.
The 22-year-old was retained by the franchise for ₹11 crore ahead of the mega auction. He completed his rehabilitation and regained full fitness. Last year, despite playing only four matches before a side strain ruled him out, Mayank then earned a call-up from the national cricket team and made his T20I debut.
