Mitchell Santner has taken numerous unbelievable catches during his international career so far. The New Zealand allrounder took another fantastic catch during the match between Northern Superchargers and London Spirit in the Hundred 2024.

In just the 11th ball of the first innings when London Spirit were batting, Reece Topley bowled a good length ball on the stumps. Opening batter Michael Pepper tried to loft the ball over mid-on with a straight bat.

But unfortunately, the ball hit the toe-end of his bat and went high in the air. Mitchell Santner, who was stationed at mid-on, ran back at full speed and just about caught the ball in front of his shoulder with a dive.

It was a superb catch by the star New Zealand allrounder who has time and again proved that he is one of the best fielders in the world. Apart from batting and bowling, Santner has always been known for his athletic fielding.

London Spirit fail to get a big score

Earlier, Northern Superchargers won the toss and elected to field first on a tricky pitch at Leeds, Headingley. London Spirit had a poor start as they lost Michael Pepper early to a fantastic catch by Mitchell Santner.

The innings never got back on track as Spirit kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Keaton Jennings was the only top-order batter who looked comfortable and he scored a quickfire 30 off 12 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Spirit were reduced to 62-6 at one stage and it looked like they would not cross the 100-run mark.

But Ravi Bopara and Liam Dawson added crucial runs down the order to take them to 111-8 in 20 overs. Bopara scored 31 off 29 balls while Dawson scored 27 off 19 balls with 2 fours and 1 six.

Rain arrives but Northern Superchargers are too good for London Spirit

Chasing 112 to win, Superchargers got off to a flying start from openers Matthew Short and Graham Clark. Although Clark was dismissed for a fiery 26, Short and Ollie Robinson rebuilt the innings before rain arrived. Unfortunately, continuous rain did not allow the game to be completed further and Northern Superchargers scored 64-1 in 44 balls.

The Superchargers were ahead by 21 runs at that point and were declared winners by the DL method. Matthew Short remained unbeaten on 25 off 19 while Ollie Robinson was not out on 13. The only wicket was picked up by Matt Critchley.

With this win, Northern Superchargers moved to the second spot in the points table while London Spirit remained at the bottom. Spirit has been already eliminated from this season.
