Mohammad Amir, on Tuesday (June 11), starred with the ball to power Pakistan to a win against Canada in the do-or-die game in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

After losing their first two games of the competition, Pakistan needed to win the game against Canada at any cost to keep their slim chances of staying in the tournament alive. And Mohammad Amir rose to the occasion. The veteran pacer came up with a Player of the Match performance to help his team clinch the crucial victory.

Bowling first, Pakistan managed to restrict Canada to a modest total of 106 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Barring opener Aaron Johnson, no other Canadian player could come up with a valuable contribution with the bat. Johnson was the top-scorer for his team, scoring 52 runs from 44 balls with the help of four fours and as many sixes.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Amir was the pick of the bowlers. In four overs, the left-arm pacer conceded only 13 runs and picked up two wickets. He gave Pakistan the first breakthrough by castling opener Navneet Dhaliwal before dismissing captain Saad Bin Zafar as well.

While Amir starred in the win for Pakistan, some Pakistan fans decided to target him with the 'fixer' jibes. In a video that has gone viral on social media, a section of the fans wearing Pakistan's jersey could be seen targeting Amir with the 'fixer' jibes while he was on his way to the dressing room after the game. Amir even looked back at the fans and said something angrily before walking away.

Watch as fans call Mohammad Amir a fixer:

In 2011, the ICC had banned Mohammad Amir for five years for his involvement in the infamous spot-fixing scandal during the Lord's Test against England in 2010. Apart from him, former Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt were banned as well. Unlike Amir, Butt and Asif did not get the chance to return to international cricket.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will be taking on Ireland in their final league game. They will have to win the game to stay alive in the competition.
