Team India stars have received a hero's welcome in the country following their triumphant campaign at the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

India beat South Africa by 7 runs in a thrilling final to win the T20 World Cup after 17 years. The trophy also ended India's years of hurt as they won an ICC competition after a gap of 11 years. The Men in Blue had their back against the wall in the final on several occasions but they managed to hold their nerves and crossed the finishing line in the end.

The team was scheduled to land in India on Tuesday. However, their departure from Barbados was delayed by two days thanks to Hurricane Beryl. They finally managed to leave the island on Wednesday and landed in India on Thursday morning. The team touched down at the IGI airport in New Delhi and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence before leaving for Mumbai.

In Mumbai, the victorious Indian team took part in a victory parade on an open-top bus as thousands of fans gave them a rousing reception. The parade was from Marine Drive to the Wankhede Stadium. More than 30,000 fans were in the stadium too as the Indian team and the fans celebrated the monumental victory together. The players took a victory lap and danced as well with the crowd before being felicitated by the BCCI.

Hyderabad welcomes Mohammed Siraj:

After the victory celebration in Mumbai on Thursday, India pacer Mohammed Siraj landed in his home town Hyderabad on Friday evening and as expected, a huge crowd was waiting for him outside the airport. There were 'India, India' chants all around as the fans welcomed their hometown hero.

Watch:

Mohammed Siraj played three games in the T20 World Cup and was replaced in the playing eleven by Kuldeep Yadav as soon as the USA leg of the tournament ended. With the conditions in the Caribbean more favorable for spinners, India decided to bring in Kuldeep for Siraj in the team and the move paid off.

In five games, Kuldeep picked up 10 wickets and played a key role in India's victory. Siraj, on the other hand, picked up 1 wicket in 3 games.
