Legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni turned back the clock with lightning speed behind the stumps as his bullet throw ended Ashutosh Sharma’s stay in dismay in the ongoing IPL 2025 clash between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The thrilling moment unfolded when Ashutosh Sharma tried to sneak a risky second run off a delivery from Matheesha Pathirana in the last over. The ball took a thick inside edge and rolled straight to Ravindra Jadeja at deep square leg.

Jadeja fired in a flat throw right next to the stumps, and in the blink of an eye, MS Dhoni collected it with his usual calm and removed the bails with electric speed. And Ashutosh was gone for just 1 run, thanks to MS Dhoni's superb efforts behind the stumps.

KL Rahul shines at the top, smashes 77 to power DC to 183/6 against CSK

Meanwhile, KL Rahul opened for Delhi Capitals in the ongoing IPL 2025 clash with Chennai Super Kings, and the move proved perfect, at least for now, as the Indian wicketkeeper played a crucial role in taking the hosts to 183/6 on the board at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Rahul played a remarkable knock of 77 runs off 51 balls, studded with six boundaries and three sixes, as well as stitched two fifty-plus partnerships with Abishek Porel (33) and Sameer Rizvi (20) against the CSK. Captain Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs contributed 21 and 24* runs, respectively.

For Chennai, Khaleel Ahmed scalped two wickets while Ravindra Jadeja, Noor Ahmed, and Matheesha Pathirana each took one wicket against the Capitals in Chennai. Chasing 184 runs to win the game will be a tough challenge for the CSK, given their recent pattern in the tournament.

Can CSK break the 175+ chase jinx at Chepauk?

Actually, chasing big totals at Chepauk has never been easy for CSK. In fact, they haven’t successfully chased a 175+ target since IPL 2021. And when it comes to day games in Chennai, only two 180+ chases have ever been pulled off—a successful 206-run chase by CSK against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2012 and 201 runs by Punjab Kings against CSK in 2023.

Big totals under the Chennai sun remain a tough mountain to climb. And now CSK openers yet again failed to set a strong foundation for the team against the DC. Opener Rachin Ravindra was sent back by Mukesh Kumar for just 3 runs while captain Ruturaj Gaikwad’s struggle continues at No. 3.

The five-time champions have dropped Rahul Tripathi to bring back Devon Conway at the top, and now CSK’s hopes depend on how he fares against the Capitals, as the hosts have already lost two wickets for just 20 runs while chasing the challenging target of 184 runs at the Chepauk.
