MS Dhoni might have retired from international cricket a couple of years ago but he still continues to make the headlines with his off-the-field activities. In the latest video, which is going viral all over social media, MSD can be seen signing one of his many fan’s Nike Jordan on special request and the netizens are loving it.
As recent as last month, MS Dhoni was all over the news due to his legal dispute with Aarka Sports management company’s owner Mihir Diwakar, and his wife Soumya Vishwash. Dhoni’s legal team had filed a criminal/fraud case against them for duping him INR 15 Crores and breaking an agreement that they signed back in 2017.
Dhoni collaborated with Aarka sports management to open cricket academies across the world under his name. However, the deal could never materialize and Mihir Diwakar had also backed off from the deal, refusing to pay the franchise fee as it was promised to the former India international cricketer.
It agitated MS Dhoni and he asked his legal team to send a legal notice to his ex-business partners. His legal representative Dayanand Singh filed a case under sections of 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code in Ranchi High Court.
Dayanand Singh claimed that Aarka Sports had signed a legal contract in which it was mentioned that all the profits the company makes from the academies would be shared on a 70:30 ratio. However, that promise was not fulfilled and Mihir Diwakar began setting up academies across the country without keeping Dhoni in the bracket and also kept all the payments in his own pocket.
Following MS Dhoni’s filing of the case against Aarka sports on October 27, Mihir Diwakar responded by claiming that Dhoni’s entourage had done so in order to tarnish his image in the sports industry and it was Dhoni who was at fault and not him.
He posted a series of Tweets on X, claiming that Dhoni has been lying all the time and they filed a defamation case of their own at the Delhi High Court.
“With utmost pain and consternation I wish to clarify that the story implanted and run on electronic and print media about cheating MSD is utterly baseless and is done to defame me to destroy my social reputation and my reputation in sports fraternity to inflict business losses to me.” – Diwakar wrote on X.
The case between MS Dhoni and Aarka sports is far from getting over but nonetheless, the 2011 CWC winning captain will be aiming to return to the cricket field during IPL 2024, slated to start from March.
