Nitish Kumar Reddy’s father, Mutyala Reddy, met Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar a day after his son scored a memorable century in the ongoing Boxing Day Test against Australia. In a heartwarming video, Nitish Kumar Reddy’s father touched Sunil Gavaskar's feet, leaving the legend overwhelmed.

Nitish walked out to bat after Rishabh Pant was dismissed on Day 3 of the fourth Test in the five-match series on Saturday, December 28. He reached his half-century in the second session and later celebrated his maiden Test century with a boundary. Nitish dedicated his first-ever Test ton to his father.

In a video that is taking the internet by storm, Mutyala Reddy was seen touching the feet of Sunil Gavaskar. Mutyala, who left his government job to support his son's cricket career, was accompanied by his wife and daughter. Gavaskar warmly greeted the rest of the Reddy family with folded hands.

Gavaskar became emotional while speaking with Nitish Kumar Reddy's parents. He acknowledged the significant sacrifices made by the family. Gavaskar went on to say that Indian cricket had gained a true gem in Nitish because of them.

“”Mujhe maloom hai aap logo kitna sactfice kiya hai. Aapki wajah se mere aankhon mey aansu aa rahe they. Aapke wajah se Bharat ko ye heera mila hai (We know how much he has sacrificed. He has struggled a lot. Because of you, I am tearing up. Because of you, India has got a diamond, Indian cricket has got a diamond,” said Gavaskar.

She Never Imagined That She Will Be in This Place - Tejaswi Reddy

Nitish's sister, Tejaswi Reddy, translated for her mother, who was overwhelmed by the experience of meeting cricket legends. Tejaswi said that her mother never imagined being in such a situation and couldn't express her feelings.

“She never imagined that she will be in this place with these legends. She is unable to express her feeling. She is unable to believe even now that my brother is playing at such a big ground and has played such a big inning,” Tejaswi Reddy said.

He Is Thanking Everyone Name by Name - Tejaswi Reddy

When Sunil Gavaskar asked Tejaswi if Nitish had troubled her, she replied that their sibling bond was like a "Tom and Jerry" relationship. Tejaswi proudly mentioned that Nitish always promised to make the family proud, and his century in the match was the moment he fulfilled that promise.

Tejaswi concurred “Of Course sir! Brother sister bond is like that. It has always been a Tom and Jerry kind of bond. We love each other. We don’t usually show it much but we do love each other. I am a very very proud sister. He always used to say that I will make you all proud one day and yesterday was that day.”

Tejaswi Reddy, translating for her father, shared that he was thanking everyone by name for their support, acknowledging that it was thanks to Nitish's efforts that the family had reached this moment.

“My father is very happy. He is thanking everyone name by name. Because of everyone we are here, because of Nitish we are here. We’ll always be thankful to everyone,” Tejaswi said.
