Australia National Cricket Team skipper Pat Cummins was all praise for India National Cricket Team pacer Jasprit Bumrah for his effort with the ball in the fourth Test at MCG. But the hosts skipper didn't feel any empathy for the vice-captain of the visitors for ending up on the losing side.
In what was an extreme thing for Indian fans, Jasprit Bumrah, despite giving his best effort with the ball, ended up on the losing side. The Australia National Cricket Team thrashed the India National Cricket Team by a massive margin of 184 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
Jasprit Bumrah had to do the bulk of bowling, bowls nearly 53 overs without much support from others with the ball at Melbourne
Bumrah simply was more than best with the ball in the fourth Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne. The premier pacer, despite no support from others, gave his best and, from time to time, jolted the Pat Cummins-led side.
With others providing him with no support, Bumrah had to do the bulk of bowling, and despite getting tired, he didn't back off and kept bowling with the same intensity for his team. Although he was taken for some runs in the first innings, he picked 4 wickets for his team.
Bumrah's best effort came in the second inning of the match, where he picked another fifer and brought his team back into the game. The premier pacer bowled nearly 53 overs and, despite that, ended up on the losing side due to poor efforts of batters.
I thought, they all bowled quite well, Jasprit Bumrah in particular, poses the biggest threat - Pat Cummins
Pat Cummins praised Jasprit Bumrah, saying that the fast bowler is the most influential player and has made things difficult for them in the series. The Australia National Cricket Team skipper also called the Indian pacer a big threat for them. Speaking to reporters, he explained;
"Yeah, he's, you know, obviously a really good bowler in great form. You know, he's been their most influential player. He's made it difficult for us at times. You know, I thought all their bowlers bowled really well yesterday.
"Again, I don't think the pitch was doing too much, but they made it really tough for us and toiled hard. So I thought, yeah, they all bowled quite well. You know, he, in particular, poses the biggest threat."
"Empathy? Not too much, no" - Pat Cummins on Jasprit Bumrah
Pat Cummins was also asked about if he feels empathy for Jasprit Bumrah losing after such a game. Replying to this, the Australia National Cricket Team skipper said: "Empathy? Not too much, no."
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is currently in favor of the Australia National Cricket Team. They are leading the series by 2-1 and the next match is all set to take place from 3rd January.
