Veteran India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was the hero for the Dindigul Dragons in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024. Under the leadership of the off-spinner, the team won the title by beating Lyca Kovai Kings in the final of the tournament.

Ravichandran Ashwin led from the front as he came up with a magical effort with the bat as well as the ball. The off-spinner played a magnificent innings and smashed a vital half-century for his team. He ended with an inning of 52 runs off 46 balls and took his team to the title win.

Ravichandran Ashwin's effort came with the bat when the Dindigul Dragons lost both the openers early. The skipper of the team steadied the ship and ensured that his side was right on the track in the chase of 130 runs and guided them to the title win in the 2024 edition of the league.

Ravichandran Ashwin also came up with a sensational effort with the ball. He bowled 4 overs and gave away just 13 runs. Overall in the entire tournament, the off-spinner was nothing short of exceptional as he came up with an equally good performance with both bat and ball

Ravichandran Ashwin scored 252 runs with the bat throughout the tournament and also picked 9 wickets. The off-spinner was sensational as the captain of the team as he led the team well and ensured that he brought the best out of his players in the entire tournament.

As Dindigul Dragons won the title, former India head coach Rahul Dravid presented the trophy to Ravichandran Ashwin. The off-spinner tried to replicate the trophy-winning celebration of Dravid from the T20 World Cup 2024 as he collected the trophy after winning the TNPL 2024. Looking at this, the former India head coach lightly hit the veteran spin bowler.

Rahul Dravid, after winning the T20 World 2024 as the head coach, came up with an animated celebration. He was handed the trophy by Virat Kohli and the former India skipper stunned everyone with his aggressive celebration at the podium.

Ravichandran Ashwin talked about the TNPL 2024 win, stating that the win in the final happened in the flow of things. He stressed how they didn't start the tournament on high but picked up the momentum at the right time. While elaborating on the win, he explained:

"This win happened in the flow of things. We were the only team that lost to Salem in this tournament. We didn’t start the tournament very well but picked up momentum at the right time. The perfect match pretty much. Credit to Sarath Kumar; he was exactly like Jonty Rhodes, diving around everywhere in this final. I came into this tournament with the intent of opening.

"We didn’t have a Head Coach in this tournament, and both the coaches we had are my friends. I wanted to open, but after the first couple of games, we had a discussion to keep me lower down the order because the wickets were slow, just for a psychological edge. But leave the cricket aside, I had a great time going all around Tamil Nadu with this team," he concluded.
