Ravichandran Ashwin has put India in the driver's seat by taking two quick wickets in the second innings of the ongoing second India vs Bangladesh Test at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

India needed a strong start with the ball to put Bangladesh on the back foot and Ravichandran Ashwin once again rose to the occasion. He opened the bowling with pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and gave India the first breakthrough.

In the eighth over, the Tamil Nadu star sent back Zakir Hasan for 10 runs. In his very next over, Ravichandran Ashwin struck again to send back nightwatchman Hasan Mahmud. It was a classic off-spinner from the India star and Mahmud was completely beaten by it.

Ravichandran Ashwin bowled one on the stumps and Hasan Mahmud went for a wild shot. The Bangladesh pacer wanted to hit the ball towards the leg side and played across the line. However, the ball turned at the last moment and completely beat Hasan Mahmud's bat before going on to crash into the stumps. Mahmud departed after scoring 4 runs from 9 balls.

After Mahmud's dismissal, Mominul Haque came out to bat and faced two deliveries. He and Shadman Islam will resume the proceedings with the bat on the fifth and final day of the Test. Bangladesh were on 26/2 at the stumps, still trailing India's first innings total by 26 runs.

Earlier in the day, the Test match finally resumed after no action took place on the second and third day owing to rain and wet outfield. Bangladesh started the proceedings on 107/3. At one stage, they were on 224/6 before an inexplicable collapse saw them getting bowled out for 233. Mominul starred with the bat for the visitors, scoring an unbeaten 107.

In reply, India declared their innings on 285/9. They scored 285 runs in just 34.4 overs. Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave India a quickfire start as the hosts raced away to 51 runs in just 3 overs. Team India registered their fastest 50, 100, 150, and 200 in Tests during the innings.

Jaiswal top-scored for the home side, scoring 72 runs off just 51 balls. KL Rahul scored a half-century too, scoring 68 from just 43 balls. For Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked up four wickets each.
