Hasan Mahmud and Ravindra Jadeja were lucky to avoid any serious injury after colliding into each other on Thursday (September 19). The incident took place on day one of the ongoing first Test between India and Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

In the 50th over of India's first innings, Jadeja was up against Mahmud. On the fourth ball of the over, Mahmud's delivery from around the stumps hit Jadeja on the pad. The Bangladesh players appealed for an LBW and the umpire was quick to raise his finger.

In the meantime, Mahmud and Jadeja ended up colliding with each other. The bowler was walking backwards as he was appealing while Jadeja was getting back inside the crease. They could not see each other and it resulted in a collision.

Both the players fell on the ground but managed to avoid any injury. After the incident, they were also quick to shake hands with each other. Meanwhile, Jadeja reviewed the umpire's decision and was adjudged not out as the ball had hit the bat first before hitting the pad.

A memorable outing for Hasan Mahmud:

Earlier in the day, Hasan Mahmud enjoyed a brilliant outing with the ball and put Bangladesh in the driver's seat. After the visitors won the toss and opted to bowl first in the first IND vs BAN Test, Hasan Mahmud picked up as many as three wickets inside the first session to put India on the back foot.

He first dismissed captain Rohit Sharma for 6 runs before sending back Shubman Gill for a duck. The right-arm pacer then went on to dismiss Virat Kohli for 6 as well to reduce India to 34 for 2. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant then made sure that India did not lose any more wickets in the first session.

After the lunch break, Mahmud struck again to send back Pant for 39 and reduced India to 96 for 4. Jaiswal completed his fifty and departed for 56. On the other hand, KL Rahul was dismissed for 15 as India found themselves reeling at 144 for 6.

After Rahul's departure, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have steadied the ship for the home side. At the time of writing this report, India were on 238 for 6. Ashwin was batting 54 while Jadeja was unbeaten on 35.

Before coming to India, Mahmud had impressed in Pakistan as well. He had picked up a brilliant 5-wicket haul in the second Test as Bangladesh clean-swept the hosts in the two-match series.
