Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant departed for a 16-ball 15 in the ongoing clash against the Punjab Kings in Mumbai. It was indeed one of the most strangest dismissals as the catcher at long-on, Deepak Hooda managed to take the catch after four attempts. Rishabh Pant walked back to the pavilion, with the Capitals needing only 16 off 17 balls for victory.
The dismissal occurred in the 18th over when Jhye Richardson delivered a short ball and Rishabh Pant miscued a pull to Deepak Hooda at long-on. While it was a straight forward take, the ball slipped out of Hooda’s hands as it slipped to his right. He put one hand on it, juggled the ball and held on the second time by pressing on to his chest to complete a nervous catch.
Opener Shikhar Dhawan laid the cornerstone for a six-wicket victory via his partnership with Prithvi Shaw, which was worth 59 in less than six overs. The left-handed batsman struck a pristine 92 before losing his stumps to pacer Jhye Richardson. Nevertheless, Dhawan had taken his side quite near to victory, while Marcus Stoinis applied the finishing touches to complete the formalities. It was the Capitals’ second victory, bouncing back from a narrow loss to the Rajasthan Royals in the last game.
