India keeper-batter Rishabh Pant had a great outing in the first round of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024. Playing for India B, the keeper-batter was right on the money with bat and gloves behind the stumps at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Rishabh Pant made a great return to the red-ball cricket after more than one year. The keeper-batter took some fantastic catches behind the stumps and proved his fitness in the longest format of the game, having made a comeback in the white-ball a few months ago.
Rishabh Pant took a brilliant catch in the second innings to remove Avesh Khan, and it no doubt was a special one. The keeper-batter came up with a magical effort and that effort of his almost put the team one step past the finishing line.
On the 4th ball of the 51st over, Navdeep Saini bowled a short length down leg from round the wicket. Avesh Khan tried to tuck it fine but managed the glove as the ball went towards the keeper Rishabh Pant behind the stumps.
Pant dived to his left and gobbled a brilliant catch to remove Avesh Khan. The India A player couldn't make a bigger impact with the bat as he scored just 3 runs off 11 balls, and with his wicket, the team lost their 9th wicket and came under pressure.

After the wicket of Avesh Khan, India B made sure that they picked the remaining wicket as early as possible. They removed Akash Deep (43) who was going great guns. Musheer Khan ran him out as India B sealed the game by the margin of 76 runs and bagged an important 6 points.
Rishabh with the bat played a vital hand in the second innings after failing in the first innings. The keeper-batter ended with an innings of 61 runs off 47 balls. He also hit 9 fours and 2 six in his innings, which helped the team take a massive lead of over 250 runs.
India B skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran talked about the win, saying that it was a special win for them especially after being 90/7. While talking about the next match, he said that they will be taking a few days off and then will focus on the next opponents. Speaking after the game, he explained:
"We were looking to bowl first. Coming back from 90/7 to win the game is special. To be on the winning side is good. Had four fast bowlers and two spinners - had a great combination. We'll look at them later (their next opponents). We've got three more days. We'll try and relax for a couple of days and come back."
India B will be now taking on India C in their next game on 12th September. The C team faced a loss in the game against India D and would want to stage a comeback.
