Team India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been impressive with his tactics during the match between India A and India B in the Duleep Trophy 2024. Pant changed the fielding positions, and lower-order batter Khaleel Ahmed was dismissed while playing a shot towards the vacant area.

Rishabh Pant is not the captain of the India B side in the ongoing red-ball tournament. Opening batter Abhimanyu Easwaran is the designated captain of India B. However, Pant made his presence felt on the field with his gestures from behind the wicket, and some proved effective in helping his team.

The incident took place in the 73rd over of India's first innings during the ongoing match. Rishabh Pant moved the mid-wicket fielder to the off-side to tempt Khaleel to go for a big shot in that area. The batter attempted the shot towards the leg side, but the ball missed the edge and hit the stumps.

Khaleel Ahmed was the last batter to be dismissed in India's first innings in the ongoing match. Khaleel was dismissed without scoring runs off left-arm spinner Sai Kishore's bowling. The Shubman Gill-led team was bowled out for 231 runs, conceding a 90-run lead to the opposition team in the game.

Pant and Khaleel Ahmed were both part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC). Rishabh recently shared an even funnier moment with Khaleel during the 2024 T20 World Cup, playfully pushing Khaleel, who was fully dressed for the beach, into a swimming pool.

Rishabh Pant Top Scored For India B In Second Innings

At Tea on Day 4, India A were 132/6 after 36 overs, with KL Rahul (50* off 80) and Kuldeep Yadav (6* off 30 balls) at the crease. The team still needs 143 runs to win the ongoing red-ball match. Rahul needs to perform in the final session to help his team cross the finish line in the final innings.

Earlier, Shubman Gill (21 off 35) and Riyan Parag (31 off 18) got off to solid starts after Mayank Agarwal's (3) wicket. However, they were dismissed in quick succession. Since then, they have lost wickets at regular intervals and collapsed to 99-6. Rahul and Kuldeep added an unbeaten 33-run stand.

Earlier in the match, Musheer Khan scored a remarkable 181 runs off 373 balls, including 16 boundaries and 5 sixes. Navdeep Saini, who scored 56 runs, added a crucial 205-run stand for the eighth wicket off 403 balls. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 30 runs from 59 balls in India B's first innings of the match.

India B was bowled out for 184 runs in 42 overs in their second innings. Rishabh Pant top-scored with 61 runs off 47 balls, including nine boundaries and two sixes. Pant added a 72-run stand with Sarfaraz Khan, who scored 46 runs off 36 balls, for the fourth wicket after the team was reduced to 22/3.
