India's captain Rohit Sharma was seen to be ignoring the allrounder Hardik Pandya during the match between India and Pakistan in the ongoing Champions Trophy played in Dubai.

The incident happened when Harshit Rana was bowling during the match. Hardik Pandya came towards Rohit Sharma to explain about the strategies related to the batter and his plans.

While Rohit kept listening to Hardik, he hardly reacted to him. Hardik kept speaking but Rohit didn't seem much interested as Harshit Rana walked back to his bowling mark.

It was an unusual moment from the Indian captain who is usually liked within the team. However, Rohit Sharma seemed concerned over the match situation as Pakistan looked on target for a strong first-innings total on the board.

Hardik Pandya provides India the opening breakthrough

Earlier, Hardik Pandya provided India the first breakthrough of the day by picking up the big wicket of Babar Azam for just 23 off 26 balls. Babar looked in fine form during this knock and it seemed like he will get a big score under his belt.

However, Hardik broke the important partnership with his golden arm once again. In the next over, Axar Patel infilcted a fantastic direct hit from long-on to dismiss Imam-ul-Haq.

Pakistan lost two early wickets but Saud Shakeel and the skipper Mohammad Rizwan stitched together a steady but fine partnership to bring their team back into the game.

Both of them took their time on a slow pitch and hardly took any risks initially. However, they started taking calculated risks as they settled down at the crease. Shakeel was the more aggressive one as he brought up his half-century off 63 balls.

India missed the services of Jasprit Bumrah who has been their main wicket-taker across formats. Another veteran quick Mohammed Shami picked up a five-wicket haul against Bangladesh in the last game but struggled for line and length in the initial part of his spell.

Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya's history at MI

Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya have had a long history with each other. Both of them play for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Hardik replaced Rohit as MI's captain in IPL 2024 which led to a huge uprising from the franchise's fanbase.

Hardik was constantly booed during the rest of the season as the crowd wanted Rohit Sharma back as their captain. However, MI stuck to their decision and kept Pandya as the team's captain. They finished last in the points table in that season.

Later, Rohit led India in the T20 World Cup 2024 where Pandya was the team's vice-captain. Under the leadership of Rohit, India clinched the T20 World Cup 2024 title.

Hardik has been retained as MI's captain for the upcoming IPL season where Rohit will play as a specialist batter. Both the players were retained by Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
