Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the India National Cricket Team defeated the New Zealand National Cricket Team by 4 wickets to win the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final.

Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli delighted after winning the ICC Champions Trophy
India and New Zealand played an absolute thriller at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, March 9, and the Men In Blue played great cricket to finish on the winning side.
Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja hit the winning runs for the team as he smashed a boundary to finish off in style. After that, Jadeja gave a flying kiss to the crowd while his batting partner, KL Rahul, celebrated with his arms afloat.
The camera then panned towards Virat Kohli, who was seen hugging assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, before other Team India members came out of the dressing room and ran into the field.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma together rushed into the ground and uprooted the stumps and were seen playing dandiya with it.
Youngsters Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh then joined Ravindra Jadeja in the middle, and the trio did the Gangnam style dance, which was a recall of the same dance move that Virat Kohli hit after the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 victory.

India took revenge for the 2000 Champions Trophy final loss
The previous ICC Champions Trophy final between India and New Zealand was held on October 15, 2000, when the competition was called the ICC KnockOut. It was an absolute thriller in Nairobi that ended with the Black Caps lifting the championship.
India batted first in the match and posted a competitive total of 264/6 on the board in their 50 overs, thanks to skipper Sourav Ganguly, who led from the front with his 117-run knock off 130 balls.
Other than Ganguly, only Sachin Tendulkar was able to make an impact with the bat as he scored 69 runs off 83 balls while the rest of the Indian batting unit failed miserably.
For New Zealand, Chris Cairns, Scott Styris, Geoff Allott and Nathan Astle did a good job and put brakes on India's scoring in the latter half of the innings.
Chasing 265, New Zealand had a poor start as they lost Craig Spearman and skipper Stephen Fleming early to Venkatesh Prasad and soon Nathan Astle and Roger Twose walked back to the hut.
The Kiwis found themselves struggling at 132/5, with the game tilting in India’s favor. However, Chris Cairns, battling a knee injury, took charge of the chase and turned the game completely with his exceptional unbeaten 102 off 113 balls. Supported by Chris Harris (46), Cairns guided New Zealand to an epic 4-wicket win with two balls to spare.
It was a heartbreaking loss for Team India as they dominated large portions of the game but failed to clinch a victory. Meanwhile, Cairns was awarded Player of the Match for his game-changing knock in the summit clash.
