India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma was at his hilarious best during the ongoing first ODI against Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. The first game of the three-match series between the teams is taking place at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Rohit Sharma had a decent outing as a leader in the ongoing game against Sri Lanka. The opening batter, who is playing his first game after the T20 World Cup 2024, ensured that he managed his team well in the first innings.

Rohit Sharma used his bowlers pretty well and everything he touched turned good as India's bowlers bowled magnificently well and kept picking wickets at regular intervals. His field placements too were top-notch as India didn’t give easy runs away.

While his intensity in the field was one for everyone to cherish, India captain Rohit Sharma was also at his hilarious best. He gave quite a few moments which were recorded in the stump mic and gave fans a joyous moment.

Rohit Sharma, who is known for his hilarious on-field antics, came up with an instruction for Kuldeep Yadav. The India captain was heard saying just before the fourth ball of the 20th over that Charith Asalanka would likely play across the line. He stated:

“Udhar marte he nahi ye log, idhar nahi marenge, udhar he marenge aada, dhyan mai rkhna. (These people don't hit there, they won't hit there, they will hit across the line, keep this in mind).”

Kuldeep Yadav tested Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka big time with his bowling. The wrist-spinner bowled pretty well and also removed the batter as he was caught by Rohit Sharma in the slips, sending him packing for 14 runs off 21 balls.

Sri Lanka post a total of 230 runs on the board

The Sri Lanka national cricket team won the toss and opted to bat first. They didn’t have a great start as they lost wickets early on but opener Pathum Nissanka held the fort for his team and slammed a brilliant half-century at the top to hold the one end for his team.

After that, they lost wickets in the middle but it was Janith Liyanage (20) who brought the momentum back in Sri Lanka’s favor. He added a 41-run partnership off 47 balls with Dunith Wellalage as the team back on track.

Dunith Wellalage played a crucial innings of 67 runs to take his to a total of 230 runs. For India, Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel picked two wickets while the rest of the bowlers barring Shubman Gill picked one wicket each for their team. Chasing the target, the India National Cricket Team have started on a very high note. Skipper Rohit Sharma has been very aggressive as he has taken the attack to the Sri Lanka bowlers. India have won the T20 series by the margin of 3-0 and would be keen to take the 1-0 lead in the ODI series.
