One of India’s debutants in the ongoing second T20I in Colombo against Sri Lanka, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s departed in the seventh over. Ruturaj Gaikwad opened the innings with Shikhar Dhawan and played some eye-catching shots in his 18-ball 21 before Dasun Shanaka dismissed him. However, he helped his captain add 49 runs for the opening stand as India targeted setting a challenging total for Sri Lanka.

Dasun Shanaka affected an excellent bowling change, bringing himself to bowl and made an impact straight away. The right-arm medium bowler delivered a bouncer as it took the top edge of Gaikwad’s bat. It initially seemed like the ball would go over the keeper’s head; however, Minod Bhanuka settled nicely under it to give Sri Lanka their first breakthrough.

Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka has won the toss and elected to field first, declaring that Ramesh Mendis will debut and Sadeera Samarawickrama will also play. On the other hand, the Indian team decided to hand four maiden T20I appearances to Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Chetan Sakariya and Nitish Rana. India leads the three-match rubber by 1-0 as they eked out a 38-run victory in the first T20I. But with a highly depleted Indian side, the hosts should fancy levelling it.
