Shubman Gill's boundary leads to a collision between Zak Crawley and Joe Root

India skipper Shubman Gill has played his best-ever knock in the history of Test cricket in the ongoing match against the Three Lions.

Gill has hit a historic double century, becoming the first-ever Indian batter to achieve the feat in England. He has frustrated the England bowlers and showcased exceptional control in the middle.

Shubman Gill has looked totally untroubled against the bowlers and made life hard for the hosts. Meanwhile, a shot from the Indian captain led to a collision between two of the best batters of the England team - Joe Root and Zak Crawley.

It happened during the 118th over when a 'tired' Josh Tongue was bowling to Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar. On the third ball of the over, Josh Tongue bowled a short of a length ball to Gill on middle and leg stump.

The Indian skipper tucked the delivery nicely, and two England fielders - one from deep backward square-leg and the other from deep square-leg - came in running to stop the ball, put in a dive, and were involved in a collision.

However, they were unable to stop the ball from going for a boundary, and thankfully, the collision was not a nasty one, and Zak Crawley and Joe Root were safe.

Meanwhile, seeing pacer Josh Tongue run out of steam, Mark Butcher said on Sky Sports:

"Washington had had enough of bobbing, weaving and ducking at it... he decided to send it! Tongue is now in his ninth over either side of the lunch break, and he might be running out of gas. England need to break this partnership very, very quickly."

It’s become untidy for England - Michael Atherton

Speaking on Sky Sports, Michael Atherton lauded Gill for his masterful performance and stated:

"It has been a masterful performance from Gill – an utterly chanceless innings. He hasn’t looked like giving England a sniff at any moment and there has been an air of inevitability about it all. He is a gorgeous driver through the off-side, has such a flowing game.”

He also reckoned that the English team became untidy as India started dominating the match. He said:

"It’s become untidy for England. This is what happens when a team is completely on top, like India are – you lose the plot a bit in the field."
