Shubman Gill's brilliant knock in the ongoing game between the Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad came to an end due to an unfortunate run-out.

The Gujarat Titans skipper was leading his team from the front once again and was looking destined to score yet another IPL century. Asked to bat first, Gujarat Titans were off to a flying start thanks to Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan.

Gill was on a roll

The Gujarat captain made his intentions clear in the very first over by hitting his India teammate Mohammed Shami for a six. In the 4th over, Gill hit Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins for two fours and a six as Gujarat Titans raced away to 50 inside 4 overs.

By the time the powerplay came to an end, the Gujarat Titans were on 82 for no loss. The partnership finally came to an end in the 7th over when Zeeshan Ansari dismissed Sudharsan for 48 runs. Unlike Sudharsan, Gill went on to complete his fifty, reaching the milestone off just 25 balls.

Shubman Gill's run-out:

Shubman Gill was looking unstoppable as he toyed with the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers. The India star was looking destined to complete a well-deserved century before a run-out ended his stay at the crease.

On the final ball of the 13th over bowled by Zeeshan Ansari, Jos Buttler hit the ball towards the fielder at short fine leg. As soon as the ball left Buttler's bat, both the batsmen set off for a quick single. In the meantime, Harshal Patel quickly collected the ball and threw it at the striker's end, where wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen smartly helped the ball onto the stumps.

The replays showed that Gill was short of his crease when the stumps lit up. However, there was some confusion as well, as Klaasen's glove was near the stumps. The third umpire checked it for a while before eventually giving his decision in SRH's favour.

Watch:

Gill departed after scoring 76 runs. His knock came off 38 balls and was studded with 10 fours and 2 sixes. Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans were on 162/2 after 15 overs at the time of writing this report.

Shubman was clearly not happy with the decision. After he was declared OUT on the big screen in the Narendra Modi Stadium, Shubman Gill was extremely angry. As soon as he stormed out of the field, he went directly towards the 4th umpire and charged at him, asking him to explain his dismissal.
