Suryakumar Yadav was booed by the crowd after the Indian skipper appealed to the umpire, arguing that Pakistan skipper Salman Agha clearly obstructed the field, which blocked his throw at the stumps. The umpires, however, found it irrelevant, and the batter was deemed not out.

For the first time in the history of the Asia Cup, India is taking on Pakistan in an Asia Cup final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and opted to bowl first. This is a major opportunity for the Indian skipper to claim his maiden multi-nation title.

Watch: Suryakumar Yadav's appeal for field obstruction turned down by the Third Umpire

After having made a good start, the Indian spinners started pulling the game back in their favour, as Axar Patel came in to bowl the final over of his spell in the 16th over of the game. He bowled to the opposition captain, Salman Agha.

Getting some air on the delivery, Agha got to the pitch of the ball and drove it through the extra cover region. Suryakumar Yadav dives to his left, stops the ball to an extent; however, SKY aimed at the stumps, and the ball instead hit Salman.

The Indian skipper then went on to appeal for the obstruction of the field; however, the third umpire seemed to find no merit in the appeal. The Third Umpire saw that, despite keeping an eye on the ball, Salman Agha never changed his running direction. The Umpire hence ruled him not out. This was followed by the crowd booing the Indian skipper for having made the appeal.

Suryakumar Yadav continues his poor form as Salman Agha takes a blinder of a catch

The Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav has marked a serious decline in form ever since he took over as the captain of the Indian team. Considering his decent form in the IPL, he made a very good start to the Asia Cup with a well-made 47* against Pakistan.

After receiving criticism for not having batted against Oman, SKY's form never returned. He has continuously failed to be promising during the Super-4 stage, and now in the finals as well. Dismissed for just 1 run off 5 balls, he was grabbed controversially by the Pakistan skipper.

After Yadav's dismissal, the Indian middle-order batters took a significant amount of time to settle down and then went on to chase the remainder of the runs.

Tilak Varma scores a crucial half-century in the Asia Cup final

India lost their 3 wickets; the top order was back into the pavilion within the powerplay. And this was the first time that India was chasing a total over 140 in this Asia Cup with Abhishek Sharma dismissed early.

Tilak Varma paired alongside Sanju Samson and set the tone of the Indian innings. After Samson's dismissal, Tilak, alongside Shivam Dube, started scoring the bulk of the runs. Neither Dube nor Tilak could accelerate easily, even during the end phase of the innings, hence making it a closely fought contest between the rivals.

Tilak's half-century came at a very crucial time, as he delivered just when India needed him the most. This would only add to the player's ICC rating points. Dube too brought out his long levers to give some relief to the Indian fans.
