Tabraiz Shamsi was at his exceptional best during the SA20 2024 game between Paarl Royals and the Mumbai Indians Cape Town. The wrist-spinner was all over the opposition in the 14th match of the tournament at Boland Park in Paarl.

Tabraiz Shamsi was one of the main reasons behind Paarl Royals winning the game over Mumbai Indians Cape Town by 59 runs. The leg-spinner picked two crucial wickets for his team and put his team in the winning position in match 14 of the SA20 2024.

Tabraiz Shamsi removed two big fish in Sam Curran and Kieron Pollard in the same over and delivered a double maiden for his teams. On the 4th ball of the over, he sent the England all-rounder, who tried to slam six, packing.

Tabraiz Shamsi bowled a tossed-up delivery on leg-stump, to which the batter swept and the ball caught the edge and was caught by the deep backward, where Fabian Allen was waiting and took a dolly to send the batter back.

After he removed Sam Curran, Tabraiz Shamsi brought up his magic trick and entertained many. He changed the colour of a piece of cloth and left many surprised with his tremendous magical skills.

Here’s the video:

Two balls later, Tabraiz Shamsi trapped Kieron Pollard in LBW. He bowled a length ball that was spinning back in. The MI Cape Town skilled went back to defend and missed the ball. Although the batter opted for DRS, he was given out.

Tabraiz Shamsi returned with the figures of 2/11 in his 4 overs and also bowled a maiden over. After his twin strikes in the 14th over, Paarl Royals bowlers were all over the opposition and bundled them out in quick succession of time.

Paarl Royals bowled out Mumbai Indians Cape Town for just 103 runs and won the game by the margin of 59 runs. Bjorn Fortuin picked three wickets whereas Lungi Ngidi, Obed McCoy and Shamsi picked two wickets each.

Today two guys contributed and in previous games, we all contributed – David Miller lauds the efforts of his team including Tabraiz Shamsi

Paarl Royals skipper David Miller opened up about the win and was delighted with the way his team performed in the game. He lauded the efforts of Jason Roy, Jos Buttler and bowlers including Tabraiz Shamsi, saying:

“Just got a little sock on it, we will have to see how it goes tomorrow. It’s the calf. Very happy, great performance all around. We got off to a flier and it was great to see J Roy scoring some runs, back to his best, and then the bowlers finished it off. Being a day game we wanted to bat first and squeeze in a total on the board.

T20 is difficult to be consistent all the way through, you get one or two losses. Today two guys contributed and in previous games we all contributed, the bowlers have done well throughout. Emphasising things that we are doing well and we have got a few plans that we have worked on and keep ironing out the strengths we have got.”

Paarl Royals registered their fourth win of the season and are sitting at the top of the table with 4 wins from 5 games.
