England batter Tom Banton took a brilliant one-handed catch during the match played between Southern Brave and Trent Rockets at The Rose Bowl, Southampton in The Hundred 2024. It was the 24th match of this season with both the teams hoping to raise their game before the tournament reaches its end.
During the 44th ball of the second innings when Southern Brave were batting, left-handed batter Leus du Plooy was strangled down the leg side by Trent Rockets wicketkeeper Tom Banton off the bowling of fast bowler John Turner.
Turner bowled a short of a length ball on Du Plooy's pads which the batter moved inside the line in order to flick the ball fine. Du Plooy got an inside edge which was gobbled up by one hand by the wicketkeeper Tom Banton behind the wickets.
Banton dived at full stretch to his right and completed the catch with one hand. It was a quick ball by John Turner but Banton's athleticism enabled him to reach the ball just in time.

Tom Banton had a good day with the bat as well. While opening the batting, he scored 30 off 17 balls with 3 fours and 1 six and gave his team a flying start. He also finished as the top run-scorer for his team in the match.
Tom Banton top-scores for Trent Rockets
The match turned out to be a thriller. Trent Rockets won the toss and surprisingly elected to bat first. Apart from Banton, there was no other significant contribution for the Rockets as the batters kept throwing away their starts.
All the top six batters made it to the double-digit mark but only Tom Banton crossed 20 runs as Trent Rockets were reduced to 126-7. Chris Jordan picked up 3 wickets for Southern Brave while Jofra Archer and Danny Briggs picked up 2 wickets apiece.
Chasing 127 to win the match, the home team got off to a good start and it seemed like the chase would be a cakewalk for them. But Alex Davies' wicket opened the floodgates for Southern Brave as they suffered a horrendous collapse by losing 6-35.
Kieron Pollard rolls back the clock as Southern Brave clinch a thriller
But Kieron Pollard had other ideas as he took on the onus to take Southern Brave home. The former West Indies captain formed vital partnerships with the tailenders to take his team closer to victory.
But the game-changer turned out to be the 17th set of the innings bowled by the star legspinner Rashid Khan. Pollard smashed all the five balls bowled by Rashid for sixes. It was effortless hitting from the big man who turned back the clock when he used to treat the opposition bowlers with disdain. It completely ruined Rashid's figures.
Kieron Pollard was dismissed for 45 off 23 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes but Southern Brave reached the target with 1 ball to spare by 2 wickets. With this win, Southern Brave moved to the second spot in the points table while Trent Rockets remain in the fifth spot.
