Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is on a break after winning the T20 World Cup last month. India defeated South Africa in the final by seven runs. The Men in Blue scored 176 and South Africa failed to chase 177 to win.

India won an ICC title after 11 years. The Men In Blue won the T20 World Cup in 2007 followed by the ODI World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2012. The next ICC title win came a decade later. This was also India's second T20 World Cup win, one that came after 17 years. The Indian skipper has played every T20 World Cup edition and is the only player to win the T20 World Cup as a player and captain.

After winning the title he spoke on record about how badly he wanted to win an ICC title for India. Under Rohit, India lost the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final, the WTC 2023 final, and the ODI World Cup final. He finally tasted success with the T20 World Cup win. He, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja retired from the T20I format after India's title win.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma at a public gathering at an event asked the Indian fans to calm down as they were chanting Mitchell Starc's name. As he was getting ready to answer a question fans started chanting Mitchell Starc's name and he replied "Calm down guys". The video is making the rounds across social media.

Rohit ended up as the second-highest run-getter in the tournament with 257 runs from eight matches at an average of 36.71. He also maintained a strike rate of over 150 throughout the tournament. His best knock of 92 came against Australia in the final. That knock ensured that India won the match and knocked Australia out of the tournament. In the process, Rohit personally avenged the ODI World Cup final loss.

Meanwhile, Mitchell Star speaking at a recent podcast looked back on his knock against Australia. While Rohit scored 92, Starc leaked 45 runs off his four overs with two wickets. He leaked 29 runs off one of his overs.

"I've played a lot against him. He had a good tournament, especially in our game. I think he targeted that wind in St. Lucia as well. If you look at the runs from each end, one end went for a lot more than the other. I bowled from that end. I bowled five bad balls and he hit them all for six" said Starc on Rohit on the LiSTNR Sport Podcast.

Starc did not have a T20 World Cup 2024 to remember as he took just five wickets in the tournament at an average of over 30 and an economy rate of 8.55. Losses to Afghanistan and India meant that Australia was knocked out of the tournament. Statc in the same podcast spoke about the ill-mannered travel schedule throughout the tournament. He also expressed his disappointment in the pre-seeding system of the tournament that almost took out the importance of the group stage results.
