India National Cricket Team batter Virat Kohli walked out to bat early in the ongoing 3rd ODI against Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. The series decider between the teams is taking place at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday (7th August).

After India restricted Sri Lanka National Cricket Team to a total of 248 runs, they lost Shubman Gill early for just 6 runs. Virat Kohli for the first time in the series walked out to bat in the powerplay, and the senior batter was off to a shaky start against Asitha Fernando.

On the 5th ball of the 5th over, Asitha Fernando bowled a length ball to which Virat Kohli walked forward and across to put it towards the leg-side. The ball took the leading edge and was about to be caught by the backward point fielder, but the ball went towards the boundary.

On the next ball after that, Virat Kohli defended the length ball outside off. However, what caught the attention of many was the antics of the batter and bowler after that. The India batter and the pacer Asitha Fernando exchanged death stares between them, raising the intensity.

Virat Kohli, after that stare with Asitha Fernando, played some crisp shots, and it seemed that he would come up with something special. But it wasn't the case as the batter yet again perished after having started, and his wicket triggered the collapse for the Indian team.

Virat Kohli ended with an inning of 20 runs off 18 balls. He slammed four boundaries in his innings. His wicket left the India National Cricket Team tottering at 71/4, and after that, Sri Lanka bowlers were all over the batters and took the game away.

India was left tottering at 101/8, and after that, Washington Sundar (30), in the end, kept fighting hard for his team. But his efforts went in vain as India got all out for 138 runs and went on to lose the game by the massive margin of 110 runs and inside 27 overs.

One of the major reasons behind the win of Sri Lanka was Dunith Wellalage. He picked up five wickets and helped the team win the game. The young spinner was awarded Player of the Series for his sensational outing with the bat and ball throughout the series, helping the team win by 2-0.

Dunith Wellalage talked about his performance throughout the series, saying that he's thankful to everyone for their support. He stated that they wanted to adjust to the wicket and also talked about the dressing room environment. While speaking to broadcasters, he explained:

"I want to thank my skipper, teammates and coaching staff. Everyone gave me great support and that's why I am here. We adjusted to the wicket as it was turning. It was the same as the first two ODIs, and I committed fewer mistakes today.

"The batters did a good job and then the spinners bowled well. Everyone is supporting each other and I am excited to be part of the team," he concluded.
