Veteran India cricketer Virat Kohli dropped Mominul Haque at first slip to allow the batter to reach a well-deserved hundred. Mominul was batting at 95 when Kohli dropped the catch off the bowling of Mohammed Siraj.
Siraj bowled a length ball angling across the left-hander as the ball took the outside edge and went to Kohli's left. However, the catch was not an easy one as it kept going away from him. Kohli tried to reach for the ball and got his left hand but could not hold on to it.
The catch was at a good height as well but a little too far from Kohli's reach. Mominul looked a little circumspect on his defence as well. It finally resulted in a single towards third man.

Virat Kohli looked disappointed after not being able to hold on to the catch. It would have been a magnificent catch from the legend if he had held on to it.
Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Siraj take brilliant catches
Prior to this moment, Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Siraj took India's catching standards to unprecedented levels by taking two excellent catches. Rohit jumped to perfection to take a one-handed catch which helped India get the big wicket of Litton Das.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj went a step further to take another great catch for another big wicket of Shakib Al Hasan. Shakib came down the track and tried to attack R Ashwin. Siraj went back from mid-off and kept his eyes on the ball despite the sunlight and held on to an important catch.
However, Kohli could not keep up the good catching session for India and dropped Mominul when he was five runs short of his century. Virat Kohli is usually a safe fielder but has dropped a no. of catches before.
However, he is a trusted fielder and is also athletic which allows him to move swiftly. The catch would have gone straight to second slip but unfortunately, there was no second slip during that time.
Mominul Haque completes his hundred
Taking advantage of the dropped catch, the experienced Bangladesh batter completed his hundred in the next over by sweeping the offspinner R Ashwin for a four behind square.
It was the 13th Test ton for Mominul Haque as he finally played a significant innings on Indian soil. It was a brilliiant hunded from the left-hander as he single-handedly carried Bangladesh's hopes.
Out of 205 runs scored by Bangladesh till lunch, Mominul had scored 102 which shows the worth of his inning. The wickets kept falling but the left-hander stayed at the crease despite being uncomfortable at times.
India will be aiming to wrap up Bangladesh's innings quickly to force a result in the next two days. Day 2 and Day 3 of the Kanpur Test were washed out due to rain.
