Virat Kohli who rescued India after early trouble in the T20 World Cup final with his 76 has big words of praise for Jasprit Bumrah. The senior Indian pacer took two wickets in the final and played his part in India's World Cup win.

Virat Kohli scored 76 off 59 balls and with crucial partnerships with Axar Patel (47) and Shivam Dube (27) took India to 176 in the final which is the highest total in a World Cup final.

South Africa had to chase 177, a record chase to win the final. Bumrah in his first spell dismissed Reeza Hendricks for just four. He came back to dismiss Marco Jansen in the 18th over with the Proteas needing 30 off 30 balls in the final overs.

Before Bumrah dismissed Jansen, Hardik Pandya accounted for Heinrich Klaasen's wicket with a slower delivery to swing the match back in India's favor. Bumrah's wicket of Jansen almost sealed the win for India.

During India's felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede stadium, Virat Kohli lauded Jasprit Bumrah for his performances in the tournament. The Indian pacer ended with 15 wickets to win the Man of the Series. His spell of 3/14 against Pakistan was another match-defining spell from him.

Lucky That Jasprit Bumrah Plays For Us: Virat Kohli

"Like everyone in the stadium here, we also felt at one point if it is going to slip away again, but what happened in those last five overs was truly, truly special. You know what I'd like everyone to do is applaud a guy who brought us back into games again and again and again in this tournament. What he did in those last five overs, bowling two out of the last five overs, it was phenomenal. A huge round of applause for Jasprit Bumrah, please. We are lucky that he plays for us"  Kohli told a packed Wankhede after Team India's open bus parade in Mumbai.

The Wankhede crowd was quick to acknowledge his contribution with chants of  ‘Boom Boom’ Bumrah to salute him.

Presenter Gauram Kapur even said that Jasprit Bumrah is the national treasure of India and asked Virat Kohli to sign a petition for the same.

"I am thinking of signing a petition to declare Jasprit Bumrah as a national treasure. Will you sign it?," he asked. "I will sign it right now," Kohli responded.

Bowling his third which was the 16th of the South African innings, Jasprit Bumrah went for just four runs. Coming back to bowl the final over, the 18th of South Africa's innings, Bumrah dismissed Marco Jansen to bring India back into the game. Hardik Pandya then bowled the final over and defended 16.  The 30-year-old was named the Player of the Tournament after India first claimed its first World Cup title in 13 years.

Like everyone, Jasprit Bumrah was also very emotional about India's World Cup win, He hailed the Indian bowling group and thanked everyone for their contribution to India winning the World Cup and putting an end to their ICC title drought.
