India’s 22-year-old baby-faced opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal is showing every senior batter in the Indian team how to bat against a top-notch bowling attack like England’s that too on a tricky surface. Jaiswal after ruling over the Englishmen on day 1 of the 2nd Test, has successfully smacked his maiden Test double hundred during the initial minutes of the 1st session of day 2.
Yashasvi Jaiswal reached the 200-run mark by scoring a boundary towards deep fine leg off England’s debutant off-spinner Shoaib Bashir. The left-hand batter after getting to the individual landmark, made a fitting celebration by putting off his gloves and helmet, looking upwards to thank god, and also thanking the crowd for their immense support.

His unique celebration brought back memories of Sachin Tendulkar’s celebration of raising his bat and helmet towards the sky, thanking his coach, father and the ultimate lord. And Jaiswal’s double hundred knock gave us a little reminder of all the special things to expect from the youngster who has worked really hard to get where he is today.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is a true depiction of what a compact Test player looks like. He displayed the major difference between him and batters like Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer who have retained their spots in the playing XI solely on promise rather than performance.
Both Gill and Iyer are seniors to Jaiswal in the Indian national team but none of them have produced a performance of that sort. It will be fair to say that all the first class grind that Jaiswal has gone through in his short cricketing career, has started to pay off.
While he has developed his class and skills overtime, the patience and passion for cricket looks in built. Yashasvi Jaiswal negotiated against English bowlers very well and displayed what a true Test inning looks like. He paid his respect to the good deliveries but did not back down from punishing the bad ones.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Becomes 3rd Youngest To Score A Double Hundred
Everyone inside the ACA-VDCA stadium stood at their feet after Yashasvi Jaiswal played the sweep shot for a 4 and became the 3rd youngest Indian batter to amass a double hundred after Vinod Kamble and Sunil Gavaskar. Kamble stands as India’s most youthful batter to do so at the age of 21-years and 32 days.
Gavaskar on the other hand scored 200 when aged 21-years and 277 days. Jaiswal did so at the age of 22-years and 37 days and his knock will forever be remembered as one of the greatest Test knocks by an Indian ever. Overall, Yashasvi Jaiswal becomes the 11th youngest batter to reach the milestone.
The 22-year-old has instantly become a trending topic all over social media. One of his video from the past where he can be hear saying that he is waiting for an opportunity, is circulating through X (formerly Twitter). However, moments after scripting history, Yashasvi Jaiswal departed for 209 off 290 deliveries as he tried to hit a six off James Anderson by going down the track.
