We Apologize Unreservedly For Your Suffering - ECB Feels Sorry For The Racist Acts Against Azeem Rafiq

The English Cricket Board (ECB) extends its apology to Azeem Rafiq, who has faced a lot of racism and discrimination inside the Yorkshire cricket club and suggested measures for unity. Azeem Rafiq reported allegations against nine cricketers to the British Parliamentary committee who had been involved with Racist acts.

Azeem Rafiq had stated he had been under mental pressure due to the racist acts against him and a lot of popular cricketers including the likes of Michael Vaughan, Gary Ballance, and Tim Bresnan were all accused.

“The English cricket board had released a statement after Friday’s meeting that involved England & Wales Cricket Board, Marylebone Cricket Club, the Professional Cricketers’ Association, the National Counties Cricket Association, and the First Class and Recreational County Cricket network.

“Racism And Discrimination Is A Blight On Our Game” – ECB Statement

The ECB statement had apologized to Azeem Rafiq for the racist acts against him and felt that Racism and Discrimination have been becoming a prominent feature in modern-day cricket. The statement also wanted the players and people to stand united against racism and discrimination at any cost.

“Racism and discrimination is a blight on our game. To Azeem and all those who have experienced any form of discrimination, we are truly sorry. Our sport did not welcome you, our game did not accept you as we should have done.

We apologize unreservedly for your suffering. We stand together against discrimination in all its forms, and are united as a sport to act,” the statement said

ECB Highlights A Series Of Tangible Commitments

ECB Statement revealed a series of tangible commitments that will need to be undertaken to make sure that racism isn’t happening in the game. The statement added about focussing on winning back people’s trust so that the game moves forward.

“Today, as a game, we discussed a series of tangible commitments to make cricket a sport where everyone feels safe, and everyone feels included. We will now finalise the detail and publish these actions next week.

“Our game must win back your trust.” The statement added
