Afghanistan batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz came up with a strong message for the Australian Cricket Team after the win in the T20 World Cup 2024. He said that they took revenge for the defeat in the ICC World Cup 2023 and hurt them back.

Afghanistan National Cricket Team scripted history as they defeated Australia by 21 runs in the Super 8 stage of the tournament. This was the first win by the Rashid Khan-led side against the Mitchell Marsh-led in any format of the game as they were exceptional with the bat and ball.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the main architect behind Afghanistan's win as he played a sensational innings at the top. The keeper-batter continued his golden touch with the bat and made sure that he took the team to the winning total in the important game of the team.

Opening the batting for the team, Rahmanullah Gurbaz batted with a positive mindset and played some blistering strokes in his innings. He didn't put a foot wrong as he put Australia under pressure right from the start.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 60 runs off 49 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 122 and also slammed 4 fours 4 sixes in his innings. He stitched a 118-run partnership with Ibrahim Zadran (51) as Afghanistan posted a total of 148 runs on the board.

After posting 148 runs on the board with the bat, Afghanistan had a sensational outing with the ball. Naveen-Ul-Haq picked three wickets at the top while Gulbadin Naib, who won Player of the Match, picked 4 wickets at the back end. Based on their effort, they bundled out Australia for 127 runs to win the game by 20 runs.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz said that winning against Afghanistan meant everything to them as they hurt them back. He said that he was hungry to beat Australia and he was speechless. Speaking in a video posted by ICC, he explained:

"That was everything. They hurt us in the 50-over cup and we hurt them. (Baat Khatam) That's it. I was mentioned this team before the tournament. I am hungry for them. Come on. I can't say anything."

23 is the favourite number now - Rashid Khan

Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan also talked about the win against Australia, claiming that the third is a special date for them as they beat Pakistan on 23rd October and now Australia on 23rd June. He explained:

'23 October and 23 June, both right in the history. 50-over and 20-over. 23 is the favorite number now. And 23 does the work as well."

Afghanistan now has a real chance to qualify for the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024. If India beat Australia and then they beat Bangladesh in their last league game, they most likely will qualify for the semi-final stage of the tournament. They would be keen to win the last game as they are high on confidence and would want to cash on that.
