As Gautam Gambhir embarks on his high-profile role as Team India's head coach, the cricket world is abuzz with speculation about his dynamic with the senior batter Virat Kohli.

Their infamous altercation during the IPL 2023 already made a lot of headlines, but with Gambhir now at the helm and Kohli still a key player, the intensity of their past altercation is set to reignite interest.

Gambhir and Kohli both are known for their aggressive and confrontational styles, and they are now set to share the same dressing room, so the entire world is eagerly waiting to see how their relationship evolves under the new coaching regime.

Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli should put past feuds behind them for Indian Cricket’s sake: Venkatapathy Raju

Well, Delhi lads’ infamous episode during an IPL 2023 game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) again became the hot topic ever since Gambhir replaced Rahul Dravid as head coach of the Indian cricket team.

As both bring their no-holds-barred attitude to the national team, it won’t be easy for them to go along despite reportedly clearing everything that happened in the past between them.

Social media is already buzzing with predictions and concerns about potential friction between Gambhir's coaching philosophy and Kohli's aggressive playing style when he later rejoins the team for Sri Lanka ODIs.

Adding fuel to the fire, former India cricketer Venkatapathy Raju said that both Kohli and Gambhir should leave the past behind and focus on their professional roles. Raju admitted that there will be a lot of discussion, but people should leave everything to the duo.

Venkatapathy Raju was quoted as saying by NDTV: “Whatever happened in IPL, they should keep it behind their back. They are very senior cricketers and they are mature sportsmen. There will be lot of discussions on social media. We should just leave them (Kohli and Gambhir).”

My relationship with Virat Kohli is not public: Gautam Gambhir

Earlier, Gambhir said that his relationship with Kohli is between the two mature individuals and not for TRPs. The new head coach also hoped that they would be on the same page when it came to the Indian team.

Gambhir had said in his first press conference as India coach: “Good for the TRP, but my relationship is not public. What kind of relationship do I share with Virat Kohli, I think it is between two mature individuals. On the field, everyone has got the right to fight for their own team, for their own jersey, and want to come back in a winning dressing room.

But, at the moment, I think you are representing India and representing 140 crore Indians and I am sure we are going to be on the same page and try and make India proud. I share a very good relationship off the field and we will continue to do that. But yes, to make it more public what kind of a relationship [we have] I think it is between two individuals.”
