Whenever I Do Well, Ravichandran Ashwin Messages Me, It Feels Good - TN Youngster Baba Indrajith
Tamil Nadu batter Baba Indrajith revealed that he receives compliments from Indian all-rounder, Ravichandran Ashwin, after good performances in the domestic circuit.
Indrajith has been a consistent performer in the domestic scene and he recently started off the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season with back-to-back hundreds against Delhi (117 off 149) and Chhattisgarh (127 off 141).
He was also part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) set up in the IPL 2022 season where he debuted for them but couldn’t nail his spot down in the playing XI.
“I’ve known him for a very long time, we’ve played league cricket together, Ranji Trophy together, so whenever I do well he messages me saying, ‘You have a spot in the Test XI, for some people it takes time so keep working hard your time will definitely come.’ – that kind of compliments it means a lot to me,” Indrajith told Sportskeeda in an interview.

Ashwin is an established cricketer and one of the greatest spinners in Test history and receiving words of appreciation from such a player is motivating for a youngster, as Indrajith puts it.
“Look, when you get a compliment from Ravichandran Ashwin, who’s a legend of the game and one of the best all-rounders to have ever played, it feels good. I sometimes feel like, ‘OK, he sees something in me,’ so that gives me the confidence. He’s been doing this for a very long time,” he also added.
Indrajith has played 56 first-class games and piled up 3788 runs at an excellent average of 53.35. In 41 List A games, he has 1154 runs at an average of 44.38, including one century and 8 fifties.
