Bangladesh made a thumping comeback in the ODI series after losing the Test series last year and the T20I series to start the series this year against West Indies. They now face the Windies in the third and final ODI on July 16, Saturday looking to end the tour on a high. The series is not a part of the ICC ODI Super League.

The Tigers ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal very proudly spoke about the way his players played in the series. They were at the top of their game and it showed in the way they played the game. That they won the first two games without Shakib l Hasan also speaks volumes about the depth of this current side.

“At the beginning of the series, I said that this is a format that we are proud about, and we have performed well in the past. Dressing room wasn’t the happiest (after the Tests and T20Is) but everyone was keen to win. It’s a great feeling to win but there is still room for improvement, and need to tick more boxes. Aim is clearly the next ODI World Cup next year” said Tamim after winning the second ODI and leading 2-0 in the series.

Bangladesh bowled out the Windies for just 108 in 35 overs. Later on, they chased down the score in just over 20 overs and won the game by nine wickets. Tamim Iqbal was unbeaten on 50 as he played a captain’s innings. Alongside him was Litton Das another experienced batter unbeaten on 32. The Tigers played the game in the right spirit and won the game handsomely. Heading into the third ODI they would like to keep the same momentum without their key all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.

Windies skipper Nicholas Pooran highlighted the importance of batting with attacking intent in the ODIs. However, that did not happen as they were dismissed for a paltry 108. This is still is a very young and inexperienced West Indies side without some of their key players. They are yet to get a hang of ODI cricket and it was clearly visible in the way they batted. Pooran himself scored a first-ball duck and 25 was the highest score in an innings of 108. They need to rectify their mistakes ahead of the World Cup next year.
