West Indies and Bangladesh are set to play the second ODI at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on July 13, Tuesday. The Tigers won the first ODI and are leading the three-match series 1-0. They headed into the series after losing the T20I series 2-0.

West Indies lost the first ODI which was a rain-curtailed game. They scored just 149 in a match that was shortened to 41 overs per side after rain played spoilsport to take out much time due to wet outfield. Bangladesh chased down the score in just over 31 overs to win the game by six wickets. Rain has been a cause of concern throughout the series.

The first T20I in Dominica was washed out due to rain. Now again the second ODI also saw the game being interrupted by rain. The rain at this time of the year is a given in the Caribbean shores and thus the groundsmen needs to be at their toes all the time.

Meanwhile, both teams have a series to win. For Bangladesh, they would like to win the game and win the series in the process. West Indies needs to win this game to take the series to the decider.

Both the captains would want their teams to perform better than the way they did in the first game. Windies skipper Nicholas Pooran was disappointed at how his batters batted in the first T20I. Shamarh Brooks top-scored with 33 in a total of 149.

“As a batting group we believe that every time the ball is swinging in or the ball has started to spin we reacted very late and this is something we want to work in as a team and as a group and try to get better in the series. I think there’s a lot of new guys in the team and we definitely need to play more as a group. Just have patience” said Pooran after the first ODI loss.

The match starts at 7 pm IST (9.30 am local time). The match day on Ju;y 13 is expected to be cloudy with separated thunderstorms in various places across the city. In short, rain is expected to play spoilsport in the second ODI as well. There is nearly a 50 percent chance of rain and a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms.

Overall, the venue has hosted 23 ODIs with 13 matches won by the team bowling first and nine matches won by the team chasing. The average first innings score is close to 230 which drops down to 200 in the second innings. If the weather stays well we can expect a good game between the two sides.
