"Woh bilkul alag hain": Akash Deep reveals what separates Jasprit Bumrah from the rest

India's latest entrant in the fast bowling line-up, Akash Deep, has had a good start to his Test career. Akash is in the same bowling line-up which also has the likes of one of the greatest bowlers India has produced - Jasprit Bumrah.

Currently, India's bowling line-up is considered as the best ever in its history. Making a spot in such a bowling line-up is itself a great achievement and Akash Deep has made it happen with his hard work and dedication.

Both Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah are part of India's bowling line-up in the Test series against Bangladesh. Akash spoke about his chats with Bumrah and bowling alongside him. The 27-year-old also spoke about the knowledge and the learnings that he has gained from India's bowling spearhead.

Akash Deep reveals what separates Jasprit Bumrah from the rest

While speaking to The Times of India during an interview, Akash Deep was asked to share his experience of bowling alongside Jasprit Bumrah in the nets. He clearly stated that Bumrah is different from others. He also mentioned that he has gained some valuable tips from Bumrah regarding the mindset.

"I regularly talk to him and observe his bowling. Woh bilkul alag hain; bhagwan ne unhe alag hi banaya hai. I take a lot of tips from him and have learned a lot. I discussed 'mindset' with him and once asked him about the mindset while bowling to a particular batsman. He provided me with valuable tips and answers to my query," Akash Deep said.

Jasprit Bumrah has the unique ability to read a batter, which makes him so lethal. Akash Deep further said that it is not easy to follow Bumrah's footsteps.

"He is such a knowledgeable person, and that reflects in his bowling. His ability to read a batter before he bowls is amazing. He is a gifted bowler, and it’s not easy to follow in his footsteps," the 27-year-old quick added.

Bumrah has been brilliant for India in all the formats in the last few years. He has all the components to be a complete fast bowler. He has been equally effective in all the formats of the game, which makes him so special.

Akash Deep's Test career so far

Akash Deep picked up three wickets with the new ball in his debut Test match against England at Ranchi. All those three wickets were of the top order batters which shows that he has the skill to run through batting line-ups.

The young pacer recently played in his second Test at Chennai and picked up two wickets in two balls which started a collapse in Bangladesh's first innings. One common feature in his wicket-taking deliveries is the no. of bowled and lbws. Akash has the ability to hit the stumps on a consistent basis and is a constant wicket-taker.

The right-arm quick also has the ability to bowl at a pace close to 140 kph. He is likely to travel to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy where he will enjoy the pace and bounce of Australian pitches.
