Australia’s Women’s Cricket team dictated the terms on Day 1 of the multi-format Ashes series. Aussies scored 328-7 as Ellysa Perry missed out on a ton by a solitary run and was dismissed by Lauren Filer. Lauren Filer showed a lot of promise in her spell and didn’t give ample room to the batters.

Ellyse Perry along with Tahlia McGrath took the team from a precarious position. Tahlia McGrath played a fiery knock of 61 runs in 83 balls and struck 8 fours and seemed in complete control.

England would be aiming to restrict Aussies below 400 runs as batting won’t be easy as the pitch has started to deteriorate. Australia on the other hand are in a dominant position and now would be keen to deepen the agony.

Once, I fielded my first ball I think I settled down a bit – Lauren Filer

Lauren Filer was having an interaction with ESPNcricinfo and revealed her experience of playing the first-ever Ashes Test match and said it was nerve-wracking at the start of the match.
“It’s weird. I don’t think it sank in until I was on the pitch. So I didn’t fell too bad until probably about five minutes on the pitch. Once, I fielded my first ball I think I settled down a bit, but it was definitely a bit nerve-wracking at the start,” said Lauren Filer.
“That’s a great start and that’s what I want to do as well, so I am very happy. It’s a bit of surreal experience, but it was a really good day, I am a bit tired now but I really, really enjoyed it,” she added.

Sophie Ecclestone is a bit bowling machine- Lauren Filer

Lauren Filer pointed out that Sophie Ecclestone is a kind of bowling machine. Lauren Filer stated that Sophie is quite consistent and the team can rely on her as she has a big role to fill in.
“Sophie Ecclestone is a bit bowling machine. Bowling for two hours, that’s pretty impressive. I have never really seen anyone do that before, but she is still standing and she’s going strong,” said Filer.
“It’s great that she can kind of tie up one end and that she’s consistent and we can rely on her. It’s a big. big role to fill and she does it so well. It makes the other bowlers at the other end feel comfortable doing what they are doing because I know that she will go for nothing. So If I go for a couple of boundaries she’s got my back at the other end, that’s really good,” she added.
