Won't Be Surprised If More Stories Do Come Out: Moeen Ali On Azeem Rafiq's Racism Allegations In England Cricket

England all-rounder Moeen Ali said that there are more stories related to racism which are yet to come in the public domain.

Recently former Yorkshire player Azeem Rafiq accused the club for not failing to complaints regarding racist slurs made by some of his teammates.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has also been alleged in this controversy, and Yorkshire batsman Gary Ballance admitted that he used racist slurs against Rafiq.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) temporarily suspended Yorkshire County Club for their inability to handle the matter.

There’s probably more stories out there: Moeen Ali

Moeen, who is currently with the England team playing in the T20 World Cup, said that he wouldn’t be surprised to learn more such stories.

“I wouldn’t say I’m surprised, but there’s probably more stories out there that people haven’t heard of. I won’t be surprised if more do (stories) come out, but I think the fact it’s come out.

“It’s great because going forward you can’t just come into the game or any sort of sport or walk of l. People have to think about what they can or can’t say in terms of discriminating against people and knowing what people feel and go through,” Moeen said, as quoted by Evening Standard.

Azeem Rafiq is not doing it for any personal gain: Mooen Ali

Moeen appreciated Azeem for speaking out about his problems and also said that he is trying to bring a change in the world.

“Azeem’s talked a lot about his mental health, and I think that’s really, really important. I think the most important thing is that people who do suffer with mental health are really being looked after in this situation. I think people that probably didn’t feel like they could speak previously, what Azeem has done he is not doing it for any personal gain, I think he wants to change, and that’s what he’s pushing for,” Moeen said.

Vaughan did not accept Azeem Rafiq’s allegations and said that he wouldn’t have ever said those words.
