The final of the World Test Championship (WTC) will reportedly take place on June 8 at The Oval in London, England.

According to a report, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has yet to finalize the final dates, although it is expected that, similar to the last edition, a reserve day would be available.

It is dangerously close to the tentative date for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 championship match, which is anticipated to end on either May 28 or June 4.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), based on the report, intends to start the 16th edition of the event on either March 31 or April 1, with the latter date being the preferred one.

The IPL will resume its home-and-away format beginning with the new season, and the opening game is anticipated to be played in Ahmedabad, the city of the defending champion Gujarat Titans (GT).

The Indian players’ schedule leading up to the World Test Championship final, assuming they qualify, includes four Test matches and three One-Day Internationals (ODI) against Australia. On March 22, the home series is anticipated to come to an end, providing the athletes with a 10-day vacation to refocus and recharge.

Team India kept their ICC World Test Championship Title chances alive:

South Africa’s 2-1 Test series loss to England in September boosted the Indian Cricket Team’s prospects of qualifying for the World Test Championship Final. With two consecutive defeats in England, Dean Elgar’s team’s WTC points percentage (PCT) slipped from 75 to 60.

Earlier in July, Team India fell by 7 wickets to England in the rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston. To make matters worse, they have penalized two WTC points for a slow over-rate in England.

After sweeping the Test against Bangladesh, Team India has risen to second place in the ICC Test Championships 2021-23 Points Table. India’s victory percentage has increased from 55.77 to 58.93 with 8 wins, 4 losses, and 2 ties. India now has 99 points, including a 5-point penalty.
India is currently second in the WTC team standings, and the next home Test series against Australia will determine their fate.
