The Royal Challengers Bangalore have made it abundantly clear that Ellyse Perry will not be named captain.
The RCB’s director of cricket, Mike Hesson, has intimated that Smriti Mandhana will captain the team in the Women’s Premier League in 2023.

During the opening few minutes of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was very active and made offers for the first two players available. They made a winning offer for Smriti Mandhana, who ended up becoming the first player ever sold in the history of the league. The team spent Rs 3.4 crore on the vice-captain of India.
Harmanpreet Kaur was also wanted by RCB, but they were unsuccessful. The winning bid for Ellyse Perry was made at that point, for Rs 1.7 crore. Following the signings of Mandhana and Perry, RCB paid Sophie Devine her base salary of Rs. 50 lakh. Renuka Singh and Richa Ghosh were purchased for a substantial sum of money. For Rs 1.50 crore, Renuka signed up with RCB, while Richa was sold for Rs 1.90 crore.
