Women’s Premiere League (WPL) Auction 2023 turned out to be quite eventful as there was fierce competition between franchises. Renuka Singh, the fast bowler was picked by the RCB franchise for a whopping INR 1.50 Crores. The pacer has been an integral part of the side for quite some time now.

WPL is expected to be an intriguing league as 3 out of 5 teams have been owned by IPL franchises: Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals & Royal Challengers Bangalore. BCCI would be hoping that the players get used to the tough scenarios of the match rather as the Women’s Team are failing at crucial junctions of the match where the team is yet to win a T20 WC as last time they lost in the final against Australia.

RCB Director Mike Hesson on WPL Auction 2023

Mike Hesson was seen interacting with media and was asked did they target Smrit Mandhana & Ellyse Perry.

“Everyone knows Mandhana and (Australia’s Elysse) Perry — Rs 1.7 crore); we were pretty committed to the couple of people we wanted to get. We’re very happy to get such quality players. It’s a dream result for us to get Mandhana, Perry and (Sophie) Devine (Rs 50 lakh). Smriti has got plenty of captaincy experience and is familiar with the Indian conditions, so highly likely (she’ll be the captain).” said Mike Hesson.

It won’t be wrong to say that RCB’s squad looks a bit threatening as we all know Smriti Mandhana is someone who can win the match single-handedly. The inclusion of Renuka Singh strengthens their bowling line up as she is someone who can bowl in the middle overs as well.
