According to a report from Dainik Jagran journalist Abhishek Tripathi, Yash Dayal will not play for the Gorakhpur Lions in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh T20 League due to recent Jaipur High Court observations in a sexual assault case involving a minor.
Gorakhpur Lions await UPCA decision
Well, the UPT20 League is all set to get underway on August 17, and Dayal was set to represent Gorakhpur Lions after being bought for INR 7 lakh at the auction. However, the Lions have said that they are still waiting for an official order from the UPCA before making a final decision.
The owners said that they are yet to receive a final directive from the UPCA regarding Dayal, so the bowler is still part of the team, and once they get the official order, they will act accordingly, as reported by the Dainik Jagran journalist Abhishek Tripathi.
Earlier this year, Dayal had a memorable IPL 2025 season, taking 13 wickets and playing a key role in helping his team win their first IPL title in 18 years.

Yash Dayal faces two sexual assault FIRs
Meanwhile, the RCB fast bowler is facing serious legal trouble after two separate cases of sexual assault were filed against him. The first case was registered on June 21, when a woman lodged an FIR saying she had been in a relationship with Dayal for five years.
She claimed that Yash Dayal promised to marry her but later backed out, leaving her with emotional and physical trauma. The woman also accused him of sexual assault, and the case is still going on in the Allahabad High Court, which stayed the arrest of the RCB bowler last month.
Soon after, another girl came forward in Jaipur with the fresh allegations. This second FIR alleged that Dayal had sexually abused her when she was a minor. The victim claimed that she was tortured over a period of two years and emotionally blackmailed with promises of helping her start a cricket career.
Even when the cricketer sexually abused her, she was 17 years old, so the case came under the POSCO. Considering the sensitivity, Dayal’s request for interim protection from arrest has been denied by the Jaipur High Court. Justice Sudesh Bansal has set the next hearing for August 22.
