Team India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has reportedly reversed his decision to leave the Mumbai domestic cricket team ahead of the upcoming 2025–26 season. The young India opener wants to continue playing for Mumbai just a month after requesting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to make a move to Goa.

Earlier, Jaiswal had surprised many by requesting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association. Goa had approached the young opening batter with an offer to lead their side, following their promotion to the Elite Division of the Ranji Trophy after an impressive run in the Plate Group.

In an email to the MCA, Jaiswal said that his initial move was based on family-related plans to shift to Goa, but those plans have now changed. He clarified that he had not submitted the NOC to either the BCCI or the Goa Cricket Association and expressed his desire to continue representing Mumbai.

“Goa has thrown me a new opportunity and has offered me a leadership role. My first goal will be to do well for India and whenever I’m not on national duty, I will be playing for Goa and try to make them go deep into the tournament. This was an (important) opportunity which came my way and I just took it,” Jaiswal had told The Indian Express in April.

MCA Yet to Make Final Decision on Yashasvi Jaiswal's Request

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s initial move to join Goa would have followed the decisions of fellow Mumbai cricketers Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad, who previously switched allegiances to the coastal state.

After securing a No Objection Certificate (NOC), Jaiswal was excluded from Mumbai's domestic plans and did not feature in the Mumbai T20 League, unlike teammates such as Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, and Ajinkya Rahane.

The left-handed batter has since requested the Mumbai Cricket Association to nullify his NOC and allow him to continue with the team, and the MCA has not yet made a final decision on the matter.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Has Represented Mumbai Since His Youth Cricket Days

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been a key figure in Mumbai cricket since his early days. His breakthrough at the junior level earned him a spot in Mumbai’s senior team, which opened doors to the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Indian national side.

Jaiswal returned to represent Mumbai in the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy season after the BCCI guidelines to prioritize domestic cricket. He played in the latter part of the campaign, scoring 4 and 26 in a match against Jammu and Kashmir that ended in a five-wicket defeat.

The young left-handed opener has already made an impact at the international level. He was India's top performer in the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, scoring 391 runs in five Tests at an average of 43.44, including a century and two fifties.
