Yashasvi Jaiswal breaks Sunil Gavaskar's all-time record to top the elite Test cricket list

India National Cricket Team opener Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved a massive feat for the team in the history of Test cricket. The left-hander now has the most number of runs for the team in the longest format of the game after 10 games, surpassing Sunil Gavaskar, who had 978 runs.

India National Cricket Team batter Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved the feat in the ongoing first Test against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. The series opener between the teams kickstarted on Thursday (19th September) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Yashasvi Jaiswal had a decent outing with the bat in the ongoing Test against Bangladesh. The left-hander played a crucial innings for his team in the first innings, where batting looked very difficult, and the Indian team lost early wickets, including the big names.

Jaiswal played a magnificent innings as he left the ball pretty well and made sure that he blocked the one end. The young batter played great shots in his innings and ensured that he took his team out of trouble while the wickets kept tumbling at the other end.

Jaiswal slammed a terrific half-century and brought control to the Indian innings. The opening batter slammed 57 runs in the first innings. He looked good in the second innings but couldn't carry on as he perished for just 10 runs, finishing up with 67 runs in the game.

After the two innings, Yashasvi now has 1,094 runs in his first 10 Test matches. He is ahead of Sunil Gavaskar (978) and Vinod Kambli (937) in terms of Indians. He has the 4th most runs overall after the 10 games in the history of the longest format of the game.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been top-notch in the short Test career so far. The young batter made his debut after the ICC World Test Championship 2023 final and since then has locked his place in the team. He made his debut against West Indies, scoring 171 runs off 387 balls. After that his best in the Test series against England National Cricket Team.

Jaiswal was at his brutal best as he looked class apart as he racked up 712 runs, which included two double hundred as well. His staggering effort with the bat saw the India National Cricket Team win the series by the margin of 4-1.

Coming to the ongoing Test against Bangladesh National Cricket Team, India has taken command of the match. After bundling out Bangladesh National Cricket Team for just 149 runs in response to their 376 runs, they have batted well in the second innings. Shubman Gill (33*) and Rishabh Pant (12*) were at the crease as the hosts ended Day 2 on 81/3 with a mammoth lead of 308 runs on the board.
