India vice-captain Ravindra Jadeja spoke about the mix-up between skipper Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal on Day 2 (Saturday, October 11) of the second Test against the West Indies. Jaiswal was run out before reaching a double century, but Jadeja described the incident as a ‘simple misunderstanding.’

On Day 2, Jaiswal was run out for 175 early in the morning session after a miscommunication with Gill. The southpaw had covered more than halfway to the crease, but Gill did not commit to the run. Tagenarine Chanderpaul threw to the striker’s end, and wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach dislodged the bails.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Frustrated with Shubman Gill After Being Run Out

After stumps on Day 2, Yashasvi Jaiswal also called the run-out ‘part of the game, so it’s fine.’ Jaiswal showed a mix of patience and aggression throughout his innings. He reached his fifty in 82 balls and completed his seventh Test century by adding another 50 runs in just 63 deliveries.

Jaiswal had previously been involved in a similar run-out during the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar series against Australia. The incident occurred in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

In the first innings, Jaiswal attempted a quick single after tapping a Scott Boland delivery to mid-on. However, Virat Kohli had his back turned. Jaiswal was out of the crease when Pat Cummins’ throw reached Alex Carey.

There Was a Misunderstanding - Ravindra Jadeja on Yashasvi Jaiswal's Dismissal

The run-out of Yashasvi Jaiswal sparked debate among fans, with some blaming skipper Shubman Gill. However, Ravindra Jadeja described the incident as a ‘misunderstanding’ between the two players. He emphasized that such moments are a natural part of the game and nothing to overanalyze.

"No, there was nothing special. There was a misunderstanding, yes, no, yes, no, and a non-striker feels that there is no run; a striker feels that there is a run, so it goes on like that," Jadeja told reporters after the end of the second day.

"There is nothing much, at the end of the day, it is a part of the game, it keeps happening. Thank God, we were in a good situation, even after that, the whole team was there and scored a big score," the all-rounder added.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Is Very Clever In Term Of His Batting - Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja said that Yashasvi Jaiswal’s maturity has helped him excel in international cricket. Jadeja added that Jaiswal judges which bowlers to attack and when to play carefully with good game awareness.

"Jaiswal is very clever in terms of his batting; he knows which bowler to attack, which bowler to play and take out, so I think his maturity level is very good."

"He doesn't try to hit every bowler, he has a very good idea of which situation to hit, which time to hit, so I think it's a good thing that when a batsman knows what shot he is going to play, when he is going to play, it stays in his mind and brings success," Jadeja added.
