Yashasvi Jaiswal has to wait as Indian XI named ahead of the First ODI in Australia

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has predicted his Playing XI for the First ODI against Australia, and he left out Yashasvi Jaiswal after having claimed him as a future Fab4 cricketer. The young batter has been eagerly waiting for a spot in the longer format of white-ball cricket since his snub from T20Is.

Undoubtedly, Yashasvi Jaiswal is one of the most talented yet ignored players in Indian cricket. His commanding form in T20I cricket was ignored when Abhishek Sharma replaced him in the T20I squad, while Yashasvi Jaiswal was also snubbed of a chance to feature in the Champions Trophy earlier this year.

Ahead of the India tour of Australia, former cricketer-turned-analyst Aakash Chopra has picked a most-probable playing XI for the Men in Blue, in his opinion, and Yashasvi Jaiswal doesn't find a spot for himself in the team.

Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped, Aakash Chopra opines on the Indian XI

The first ODI is scheduled to be played at the iconic Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday, which would mark the historic return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the two poster boys of Indian cricket. The series is further important from India's point of view, as this is the debut series for new skipper Shubman Gill in ODIs.

India are kickstarting their preparation for the 50-over format World Cup to be held in South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. Starting with the top order, Chopra picked Captain Shubman Gill alongside Rohit Sharma.

He then simply named Virat Kohli in his usual spot of no. 3, making no changes to the Indian top order. The middle order is comprised of seasoned batters Shreyas Iyer, now the vice-captain of the side, and KL Rahul, the first-choice wicket-keeper batter.

What shocked all was that Chopra didn't side with Yashasvi Jaiswal, the batter whom he himself named among the Fab4 cricketers last week, and also backed him as an all-format talent.

Washington Sundar picked over Asia Cup hero Kuldeep Yadav

After the batters were finalized, Aakash Chopra turned to the favorite players of Gautam Gambhir, the all-rounders. In the absence of Hardik Pandya, he brought in Nitish Kumar Reddy at no. 6, followed by experienced campaigner Axar Patel.

However, he made a shocking preference to pick all-rounder spinner Washington Sundar in the side over Kuldeep Yadav, the chinaman spinner who picked 17 wickets in the Asia Cup and then 12 more in the recent series against the West Indies.

Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been rested from the ODI squad for Australia; however, no conclusion has been drawn on his One-Day career yet.

Harshit Rana in Aakash Chopra's predicted XI after backing from the Indian coach

Gautam Gambhir's backing has elevated Harshit Rana again, and Aakash Chopra proved it as his first point, since he sidelined the Oval hero Prasidh Krishna and named Rana in his predicted XI. Krishna was also not picked for the Asia Cup nor the West Indies games.

The two other names include those of Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh. The left-armer is called into the XI due to the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, who has probably been asked to focus on T20Is and Tests for now, since the 50-over World Cup is 2 years from now.

Aakash Chopra’s Playing XI for the first ODI vs Australia: Shubman Gill (C), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (VC), KL Rahul (WK), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh
