Chetan Sharma has been named the chief selector which would be his consecutive term. The Cricket Advisory Committee (CA) consisting Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra, and Jatin Paranjape. Around 600 applications were received for 5 posts on Men’s Selection Committee.

Chetan Sharma had received a lot of criticism in his previous tenure as India had a lot of captains which affected the team’s dynamics. There were reports which suggested a rift between the former skipper Virat Kohli & him over selection in the 2021 T20 WC.

With Roger Binny at the helm, it would be interesting to see whether the same pattern would be continued by Chetan Sharma. With multiple ICC tournaments scheduled in 2023, the billion people would be hoping that the team finally ends the drought of 10 years as since 2013 India hasn’t won an ICC tournament.

According to sources, it is assumed that India may have split coaching & split captaincy to manage the workload in the crucial year. It would be quite fascinating to see whether Rohit Sharma gets a chance to lead India in the shortest format after the 2022 T20 WC Semi-final exit.
