Notably, YCCC has faced heavy criticism after the Azeem Rafiq racism scandal and several sponsors ended their relationship with the club. Also, Yorkshire has been banned from hosting matches.

Newly appointed chairman of the Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC) Lord Kamlesh Patel reacting to the releases of coaching staff said that substantial change is required at YCCC and they are ready to take all necessary action to regain the trust of fans. He elaborated:

Significant change is required at Yorkshire County Cricket Club and we are committed to taking whatever action is necessary to regain trust. The decisions announced today were difficult to make, but are in the best interests of the Club. Without making important changes to how we are run, we cannot move on from the past to become a culture which is progressive and inclusive.”
